A New Heaven

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first ones had passed away
And there was no longer any sea
I saw the Holy City coming down out of heaven from God
Prepared as a bride dressed for her husband
And I heard a loud voice
From the throne saying
“Look! God’s dwelling place is now
Among the people, and he will dwell with them”
He will wipe every tear from their eyes
There will be no more death or mourning
Or crying or pain
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal
Flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
Down the middle of the great street of the city, on each side of the river
Stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month
And the leaves
Of the tree
Are for the healing of the nations
No longer will there be any curse
The throne of God and of the Lamb
Will be in the city
And his servants will serve him
They will see his face

I didn’t see a temple in the city
Because the Lord God
Almighty and the Lamb are its temple
The city does not need the sun or
The moon to shine on it
For the glory of God gives it light
On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there
Nothing impure will ever enter it, but only those whose names are in the book of life
